About the Chemistry Department:
Department of Chemistry was established in 1967. It is one of the largest and renowned department in western Vidarbha region. The college offers following courses in Chemistry B.Sc., M.Sc., M.Phil., Ph.D., Certificate / Diploma / Advance Diploma in Analytical Chemistry, with excellent infrastructural facilities and competent faculty. The department has made a significant impact in various areas of research and teaching and continues to strive for excellence. The major area of research is the synthesis of bioactive heterocyclic molecules, drug discovery and coordination chemistry.
- The department has recognized research guides.
- 05 students have completed Ph.D. and currently 06 students are registered for doctoral studies.
- More than 100 research articles have been published in peer revived journals.
- Two research projects have been completed successfully and work on about five research projects is in progress.
- Consistence excellent academic results in University - The department holds glorious track record that includes University toppers in chemistry.
- Strong Institute – Industry interaction as a result students are occupying good positions in various CSIR Institute, chemical and pharmaceutical industries such as DRDO, N.C.L. Pune, Forensic Laboratories, IITS, U.I.C.T. Mumbai, Reliance, Reddys Laboratory, Ranbaxy, Cipla, Lupin, Duphar, Wokhard, Actavis Pharma etc.
